Happy New Year!

I am very excited to have yet again experienced another turn of the year, and of course I can't wait to experience new music this year.

As most people do, I have decided to make a resolution for this year. In 2015 I hope to take the poetry I write and the melodic notes that float through my brain and create something worth creating... a song!

This is my lyric/poetry/idea journal. I have yet written a proper song, but I hope that I can combine different elements of my journal to create something that I am really proud of.

I hope that this post inspired you to make a New Year resolution or create any type of song or poetry. I can't wait to see what the New Year brings in the music world. I hope you have a very happy New Year and a fresh start on anything you want to accomplish.

With the holidays coming up, music and its incredible ability to create a warm and merry environment is especially important to me and to many other music lovers. Actually, I am currently listening to Christmas and holiday music at this moment. For this post, I'm going to give you guys some ideas on how to spread and share the merriment through music!

This makes the environment interactive and fun in a positive way.

Next, you could spread the love by giving the gift of music to others who don't have access to it. A great way to do this is by giving musical gifts to a local and reputable shelter or foster home that accepts gifts.

Finally, as you might have noticed the hustle and bustle of the   holidays might get a bit crazy, so you could simply just try to   incorporate any aspect of music in the days ahead to bring joy.   While shopping for gifts, baking cookies, or even decorating your house festively, you could simply just listen to music. The       feelings that music can give alone are enough to spread the       happiness that comes with it.

How To: Positioning to Play Piano

Playing piano with soul and heart may be a liberating activity, but positioning in playing holds a key role. In playing this instrument, you want to sit tall (because you should be proud of your ability!) and you want your limbs and mind to be flexible and loose to allow yourself to really feel the music. Once your mind, soul, and body are open and free, you can begin to play piano.
 

You should begin with a straight posture while being seated at the piano.  Your posture will contribute to your ability to read the sheet music as well as lift your foot to press on the pedal if needed. With your shoulders back, bend your elbows and slightly extend your arms to allow maximum room for arm movement and ability to play both bass and treble keys easily.

Like body posture, hand posture is also a key element to being able to play piano with ease and comfort. Wrists should be slightly lifted and fingers should be faintly bent to allow quick movement and ease.














Finally, extend fingers to allow more room for easier playing of both the black and white keys. The wider you spread your fingers, the more distance you can cover to allow easier and comfortable playing.
